Inspired by the Sierra Club 1960’s battle with the Walt Disney company over a proposed ski resort in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, former attorney and best selling author, Darryl Nyznyk, brings captivating realism to this riveting new thriller. Sean Donovan lost everything his wife, kids, job, and license to practice law. Abandoned by his wife, betrayed by a friend, and fired by his firm, it has taken thirteen years for Sean to come back, now barely eking out a living on minor cases while his former firm thrives. When Buck Anderson, renowned environmentalist from Sean’s hometown is murdered, Sean reunites with Buck’s niece at the old man’s funeral. She begs Sean to join the Sierra Club’s case to stop a major ski development by a Disney-type company, the very case on which Buck was working when he was killed. Sean agrees, but learns too late that his former firm represents the opposition with motives more sinister than their client’s ski development. THE CONDOR SONG is an environmental legal thriller set against California’s rugged Sierra Nevada Mountains in which a man lost to the world he thought he knew tries to find redemption in the face of impossible odds.

I really enjoyed the mystery. Several different plots ran separately and were well brought together near the end.I enjoyed it even though some of the characters and sentiments stand for much that I loathe, anti business and antil development and so much that destroys our economy and prevents people from enjoying healthy exercise and experience.
I really like the at anti development Sierra Club attorneys were accurately portrayed as having no outddor experience of their own, just typical well meaning ignorant ideologues.
While the authors sympathies were evident in his opposition to a ski resort in the mounntain area west of Visalia, CA, an area whose economy was destroyed 40 years ago when outsiders storpped development of Mineral King by Disneyland and is typical of the ignorance of pople who stopped that development and would stop it again, he still told a gvery good story.
Anti development liberals will love the book and conservatives who enjoy the outdoors will enjoy the story enough to enjoy it despite its message.
As an attorney, I like the fact that one or more of the attorneys portrayed were people of great conscience and ethics as I think most attorneys are. I was sorry they were on what I think was the wrong side of development.

The Condor Song A Novel of Suspense Darryl Nyznyk 9780965651394 Books Reviews
I confess that this story line sailed way over my head. I thought it was me having a bad day so i let it slide for a week or two and went back to it and found out that I couldn't keep up.
When I first started reading The Condor Song, I had no idea what I was getting into. I suspected it would be a good. I had read something by Mr. Nyznyk before. But this was startling well written.. I thoroughly enjoyed it. This is a wonderful legal thriller. The Condor Song puts Darryl Nyznyk in the top tier of mystery writers like David Rosenfelt, Robert B. Parker and others. It's a great read.
I liked it! Needed an escape from election stuff and this was great for that!
What can I say? I loved so much about this book. Maybe it was because I grew up in the San Joaquin Valley and our family spent a lot of time in the Sierras. And I've always been a fan of Grisham's--I like a good legal thriller. But Nyznyk's Condor Song is so much more than that. You can feel Sean's painful fall from grace and relate to his middle-age struggle to keep his life together. The excitement builds in the latter chapters and everything comes together in a thoroughly satisfying ending. I hesitate to write much more (altho I certainly could)because I don't want to spoil it for somebody who has yet to read the book. All I can say is--read it--you won't be sorry.
This book was good from the first page. There was only one disappointment when the romance between Carla and Sean took an unexpected leap from a recognition of feelings to the bedroom with Sean's mother in the house.
Everything else was well paced and interesting. The reunion with Sean's adult children was a surprise. It could not have been handled better, bringing tears to my eyes.
This has romance, courtroom drama, antagonists and a legal tug of war; loved it!
Overall a heart warming story of a struggle to protect a species of wild life from the all too often heart breaking stories of man's inhumane pursuit of wealth at the expense of other species and their territories. If I were to offer any form of criticism it would be that if a story is going to introduce a romantic element then do so with more gusto as this area was a bit limpid and was seemingly there.....but not there..!! It was almost as if the author was unsure of how to develop it so we sort of stumbled along and then fell into the same old trap of the intervention of a predictable near tragedy to ensure it.
A gripping & interesting book, the author reminds me of a contemporary of the Russian classics with an in-depth perception of human characters, flawlessly depicted whether female or male.
A wealth of compassion and understanding flows while the moral issues each lawyer has to contend with sometimes during his career are being pondered. The suspense is thick as in any court case, the romantic event developing on the side unexpected yet decisive in the final outlook on life of our hero.
Sean is a darn good man whose high moral standards forced him to speak his truth and stick to his values- committing career suicide and breaking his marriage and family life.
I had a lot of pleasure following the intricate web of this novel, regaling myself into a perfect end.
Yes. I recommend it.
